Sansui au-2200 Restoration

The Sansui AU-2200 amplifier is a departure from the traditional black faceplate. The silver/grey faceplate is in excellent condition but in need of a clean. Controls present noise when moved and the amp sounds tired and warm 

Facepalate removed and deep cleaned, along with all knobs and switches. Came up like new. 

Top side of the main amp board. You can see the original black filter cap in the foreground with the additional grey cap behind it. Both are to be discarded as they are under spec and leaking electrolyte 

Main amp board has had all electrolytic caps replaced with high quality, audio-grade Nichicon units. Caps under 1uF have been replaced with high quality WIMA poly-film caps which outperform electrolytic caps by a long shot  

The power IC's have been given a clean and a new application of quality heat sink compound to allow more efficient heat transfer between the IC and heatsink
